P.J. Hogan

Join me, Donna Pfeiffer, Maria Garcia, Anita Powell, Gordon Taylor, Patrick Darby, Judy Docca, Bob Egan, and other upcounty neighbors who support the proposed Clarksburg Community Hospital and medical campus, and the continued operation of the Germantown Emergency Center.

Not only is the hospital needed in Clarksburg today, it will be needed in the future even more. So it truly is the right place to put it…It’s the right location and it will provide the health-care services as the county continues to build out.

- P.J. Hogan, Former Upcounty Maryland Senator
Montgomery Village

Upper Montgomery County needs more than just a new hospital. We need the right hospital in the right location and a comprehensive array of services to care for the entire community.

Adventist HealthCare’s plan for a new community hospital and full-service medical campus in Clarksburg is the only one that:

  • Offers immediate access from all directions off of I-270
  • Offers the widest array of services, including a daycare center, nursing center, and clinic for the uninsured
  • Was planned with the community from the start
  • Already has local environmental, land-use and transportation approvals in place
  • Ensures continued access to the existing Germantown Emergency Center

I do think it’s a great location. I think it’s easily accessible. And I am really pleased about the quality, the environmental quality. I whole-heartedly support this.

The Clarksburg Hospital with its location along the 270 corridor, and specifically right off of the exit, is really just about the strongest location for a hospital that I’ve seen – not only in Montgomery County but within the State…

When my mother needed emergency care, the Germantown Emergency Center was there for us. In fact, Adventist HealthCare has been working with our community for nearly a decade to provide better access to health care for all upcounty residents. That’s why I’m supporting Adventist HealthCare’s plans for a new community hospital in Clarksburg and continued operation of the Germantown Emergency Center.

I have worked with Adventist HealthCare on health fairs and partnered with them on community programs. Community input does make a difference. It’s
not just what Adventist HealthCare wants, it’s what the community wants. Adventist HealthCare is right there for you and they will take care of you.

Dear Dr. Moon:

I strongly support the proposed Clarksburg Community Hospital and Medical Campus off I-270. Along with the Shady Grove Adventist Germantown Emergency Center, this new hospital and campus will expand access to medical care for upper Montgomery County and lower Frederick County. It is the only plan that provides the best access to care, will not harm existing health-care services and was planned with the community and Montgomery County from the start. Please help the region fulfill this long-term vision for health care when you make your decision.

Sincerely,

Expanding Access

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

For over 100 years we have been dedicated to bringing health to the community and the community into health including tireless efforts to improve the access to care in the upcounty areas with initiatives such as:

Clarksburg Community Hospital

For several years Adventist HealthCare has worked in an open and collaborative manner with Clarksburg residents on the future Clarksburg Community Hospital and a comprehensive medical campus that will expand access to health care for the region. This project is critical to the long-term health of the Clarksburg community.

Germantown Emergency Center

In 2005, the upcounty community joined together to win approval for the Germantown Emergency Center. After nearly three years of successful operations, this high-quality facility provides important emergency medical services to more than 33,000 patients each year. The Emergency Center and a well-planned Clarksburg hospital and medical campus off I-270 will expand access to medical care for the entire upcounty region.

The Germantown campus also includes: The MobileMed Upcounty Care Clinic which opened in September 2008 and will provide medical care to more than 1,000 uninsured county residents this year; The Shady Grove Adventist Prenatal Center in Germantown, part of the Montgomery County Maternity Partnership Program, which provides free prenatal care to about 200 county residents each year who are uninsured or under insured; and several physician offices.

The big thing for Clarksburg is they’ve been part of the planning process for literally the last 10-15 years. It’s the perfect location, all of their permits are in order and as you look forward to Clarksburg growing out it provides such a huge benefit for the upcounty region.
